What Katy Read just finished A Visit From the Goon Squad. Detailed reviews & comments over on the book club site, but if you don't want to leave (and who would?)I can tell you the book scored 70/100 – one of our highest. We particularly loved the chapter that consists entirely of powerpoint slides. For anyone who has read and enjoyed the book Jennifer Egan has a website that gives some nice additional insight into how she came up with the themes for some of the stories and characters
And there's a version of the powerpoint chapter that can be enjoyed with audio (but I think you sort of have to have read the book to appreciate the magic)
So anyway, thanks Jennifer Egan for writing a book that I, for one, enjoyed enormously – and which generated lots of good book club discussion. I'm looking forward to reading something else by her.
