The Hare with Amber Eyes made lots of the Christmas 'best of 2010' lists, so What Katy Read decided to read it to find out what all the fuss is about. Did we like it? Check the main site for our review and scores. If you'd rather just hang around here, then I can tell you we liked it very much, and would recommend it to anyone. It's a family history. The author, Edmund de Waal, has a distinctive and enjoyable writing style, and the focus of the story is his collection of small Japanese carvings called 'Netsuke'. He has a lovely website where you can see a selection of his netsuke in more detail. The book has just come out in paperback; if you haven't read it already, it would be a fine thing to curl up with on a dark rainy February night.
