Interesting perspective from Geoff Dyer on Julian Barnes's Sense of an Ending in December's New York Times Book Review that has the literary world buzzing. I enjoyed reading his take on it, but I do have a basic problem with authors reviewing other authors books, particularly when they're treading such similar territory. How can they possibly be unbiased? And I think if you recognized the reference to the 'well-known book of criticism by Hugh Kenner' you'd surely be an above average reader. Wouldn't you?
