The Sartorialist book is out. Lovely blog (http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/), lovely book. It's like when you find an great picture in a magazine and you might tear it out & pin it up somewhere, because it inspires you, or you just like looking at it, or whatever. But here you get a whole book full of pictures just like that.
I like the simple way that it has been put together – the design doesn't interfere, it just lets the pictures do the talking. You want to look at every page, because you don't want to miss anything. Maybe more could have been done with the combinations, to make them talk to each other a little more. But there are some very nice spreads…
And I think everyone will find an image in there that they respond to. For some reason I love this guy on the left; maybe it's the way his shirt is buttoned all the way up. Or the cardigan. Could it be the necklace? Nope, I'm pretty sure it's the shirt. Anyway…
what might otherwise seem like a relentless stream of beautiful images of beautiful people is broken up by the occasional unexpected moment:
a tactic that keeps things in interesting, and works very well. Way back when he signed the deal Scott Schuman wrote that he went with Penguin because as well as doing the basic book they were also going to do a more bespoke limited edition. So you can buy the paperback at a very reasonable £11.99, or invest in the more deluxe version for £100.00 (here it is on Amazon). Be interesting to see what happens when this goes head to head with the Facehunter (coming soon).
Later on in the afternoon I went shopping. Possibly, so soon after
paging through this book, a mistake. And during what turned out to be quite an expensive afternoon, as I passed people I found
myself evaluating them with Sartorialist eyes.
Oh yeah, and he's doing a signing in Colette in Paris this weekend; when I was there they had some lovely prints of his on the walls – I snuck a couple of pix before they told me off.

Yeah, that necklace isn’t doing anything for anyone.
I’m thinking of selling advertising space on your thumb and forefinger.
Great blog, by the way..
My rates are £20 for biro, £50 for permanent marker & a commitment not to wash for a week. xK
