how to arrange your library

How indeed. A current preoccupation, as we finally – after a year – have new shelves. So being a designer I decided I wanted to try arranging them by colour.

I'm not the first person to think of this. See the gorgeous pic below from someone who has done it beautifully. There's a nice article over at the colourlovers.com blog – lots of interesting stuff there, actually, but don't get distracted…

Having tried it, I can say it's a very boring way of arranging books. It sort of makes it a mechanical exercise. And it's taking FOR-EVER.

Aargh. But on the plus side, some nice things are turning up, like this gorgeous Peter Carey paperback I bought – in Australia, I think – because I liked the cover. (I confess I've never read it.) You can see why I liked it, though…
