In New York & to the apple store to play with the ipads. To buy, or not to buy … they're about £100 cheaper here than in the UK. The ibook reader was nice – you download books from the ibook store & I could imagine using it for that happily enough – although I wonder if part of its appeal is that it's quite 'like a book', in which case why not just have an actual book. Would I fret about the battery running down? Would the ibook store be annoying? It seems similar to Amazon – fine if you want something specific because you can just look that up, but not so great if you're not sure what you want & just want to browse around. The only option for filtering seemed to be the NY Times bestseller list, or the ibookstore top sellers, which didn't have anything that caught my interest. I wonder what the range of ebooks is, too. So I'm inclined to wait – it still feels like early days with this & it's definitely not something I need, more like something it would be cool to have.
